Starting with a ride in the beautiful Mission Trails area the SDBMA's annual VAP was our way of saying, "Thank you" to our outstanding volunteers. With support of our fine sponsors Bike Bling, Clif Bar, Cal Coast Bicycles, Zoic Clothing, North of the Border Bikes, Stone Brewing Company, Epic Action Video Cam, Prana, BRC Bike Shop, MTBtreads.com and Turner Bikes we rewarded our top volunteers with tons of swag and a bike frame.
The top awards went too:

SDMBA Volunteer of the Year and winner of an Epic Action Video Cam: Rob Mikuteit
His leadership has made him a valuable member of this organization and earned him the title of “The King of Tunnels.” His tireless effort to craft and get implemented a worthy trail plan for the Del Mar Mesa shows that mountain bike advocacy comes in many forms—some dig with McLeods and shovels—he crafts trails with the Google Map, the color printout and the long meeting. When we can legally ride Tunnels again there will be a stone installed at the entrance that users will have to kiss and utter, “Bless Rob.”
Trail Work Volunteer of the Year and winner of a Turner 5-spot frame: Kevin Mortensen
Kevin is Liaison with Crestridge Ecological Reserve and has been working closely with staff there to reroute unsustainable trials and improve the trail experience. His accomplishments are too numerous to list here. His leadership has made him a valuable member of this organization and earned him the title of “Trail Boss” - or as they say south of the border “Jefe de Pista”.
Cathy Chadwick of the California Department of Fish and Game and the Earth Discovery Institute presented SDMBA with a Proclamation of Appreciation. SDMBA and EDI have been sharing a successful partnership and Crestridge Ecological Reserve.
Thanks again to all that help SDMBA be the voice of mountain biking in San Diego.
The evening was capped off by the comic "SDMBie Awards" presented by past Presidents and Dynamic Duo Andy Darragh and Minnette Ozaki. Way too many pix of men in skirts but I guess that's just the way we roll around here.
