Letter from Archipelago Mastermind Rich Julien himself:
“So here we are. Every year, some part of the course gets better. Don’t ask me how, but the Gods let it be so. Every year, we get together as a tribe of mountain bikers and celebrate riding through this great place we live in. We help each other in the spirit of mountain biking. No one gets left behind. Encouragement abounds and you find that it’s more fun to help those around you. It isn’t long before you get it. Life is not just about you. The Archipelago is a slice of life…(click here to read Rich's full letter.)
The 2012 SDMBA Archipelago ride will be on Saturday April 28th, 2012, so save the date in your calendars. Mileage and elevation change will be like years past, over 40 miles of dirt and over 4000 ft of up! Sound fun, yet?
Due to the overwhelming popularity of this event, this year’s ride will only be open to SDMBA members, as we acknowledge that plenty of members were unable to participate in years past (as registration was open to members & non-members alike). This ride fills up fast and space is limited! This year's ride has a suggested donation of $15.00 and for an additional $15.00 you'll also receive a commemorative T-shirt. If you are not a member, join now!
If you are unsure of your membership status, email SDMBA Membership.
The sign-up link will be emailed out to all current members from membership[at]sdmba[dot]com (not TrailNews) during the last week of March.
A new component to this year’s ride is the addition of Poker Ride. Sign-ups will be the morning of the ride and you’ll need $5.00 of cold, hard cash to participate. The person with the best hand at the end of the ride will win a really cool prize!
As mentioned space is limited and this event sells out quickly (2011's ride sold out in 24 hours), so there is no guarantee of a spot. But if you'd like the opportunity to ride one of the most epic rides of San Diego, become a member to get on that invite list!
We look forward to a memorable and fun ride this year!
