Communications and Marketing Coordinator (posted 1/31/23)
Position Overview: Working with the Executive Director and other SDMBA staff, this position is responsible for producing and coordinating SDMBA’s internal and external communications and marketing initiatives. We are seeking a creative, self-starting individual who is passionate about the outdoors and the mountain biking community. This individual will have solid business knowledge and general marketing experience with a unique creative communication approach on a variety of social and digital channels. Non-profit experience is a plus. Work directly with the Executive Director to determine budgets, goals/metrics, pricing strategies for events, products & membership. Passion for the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in content creation, graphic design, web design, social media, production, etc. is highly valued. This is a highly collaborative, self-driven position that offers a great degree of creative freedom.
Time commitment: 40 hours a week; Flexible schedule, requires some evening and weekend work.
Wage: $24-26/hour Full time non exempt

Supervisor: Executive Director, San Diego Mountain Biking Association
Duties:
Marketing Management: Developing, implementing & executing creative and strategic marketing plans and content for SDMBA programs, campaigns, and events with a laser focus on attracting potential members and retaining existing ones as well as cultivating donors and sponsors.
Approximate Workload Distribution: 45%
Creatively produce and/or source print and digital content and assets to support implementation, promotion, and coverage of all programs and events with a cohesive look-and-feel in SDMBA’s brand guidelines across multiple communications channels
Create, maintain and execute a communications calendar to communicate and support SDMBA’s programs, projects and initiatives with expected metrics.
Work proactively with staff to develop, communicate and implement marketing plans for programs, campaigns and events including timelines with expected metrics.
Participate in project meetings and planning processes to advise and facilitate the development of creative, organic and exciting marketing and communications plans
Maintain, improve and update the website regularly in collaboration with staff/volunteers making it fresh and relevant.
Coordinate with contributing photographers, videographers, graphic designers and writers, including contractors and volunteers
Constantly optimize paid marketing across influential social media channels while setting specific goals and metrics.
Support sponsor marketing obligations.
Provide analysis and reports of Marketing Communications activities monthly, quarterly and annually.
Communications Management: Manage & coordinate all SDMBA web presence, social media platforms, email campaigns and newsletter staying fresh and relevant. Brainstorm ideas for new campaigns, coordinate with staff to produce effective strategies & analyze data to evaluate the success of marketing efforts and ways to innovate. Monitor current campaigns ensuring budgets, goals, and content is effective and consistent.

Develop each issue of the bi-monthly newsletter, to be reviewed by Executive Director, with an eye towards ongoing improvement
Consistently and proactively create exciting and relevant content; schedule and distribute social media content and posts/stories on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Lnk.BIO, Tik-Tok, LinkedIn and YouTube
Utilize social media management and listening tools (Buffer, Hootsuite or similar) and maintain engagement with public across digital channels
Track and report success of platforms, collaborate with staff and update strategy twice a year.
Identify new target audiences for SDMBA, plan and execute creative marketing campaigns to deliver high-value content to new groups
Contribute to fundraising and outreach efforts through the development of targeted email outreach
Public and Partner Relations: Create engaging content for members and the public to represent the mission of SDMBA and the trail advocacy movement. Ensure the association is communicating the right messaging to attract prospective members and retain existing ones.
Approximate Workload Distribution: 10%
Work with sponsors and other organizations to promote SDMBA programs, events, fundraising and advocacy initiatives
Facilitate media relations by monitoring San Diego area news for opportunities to amplify SDMBA mission and initiatives
Assist with developing clear, crisp messaging for SDMBA staff and volunteer leaders for interviews and public events
Ability to create proactive communications while also be able to respond quickly as issues needing quick response arise
Build and maintain media lists
Assist with creation of press releases as needed and share with relevant media and influencer contacts
Other tasks as assigned (5%)
Event and operations support
Minimum Qualifications
2-3 years experience in communications and marketing preferred with understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels with analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges
Excellent written, oral and digital communication skills bolstered by professional judgment and discretion
Familiarity and passion for mountain biking and the outdoors
Creative and strategic thinker with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent time management and organizational skills/budget management skills
Managing social media in a professional setting preferred
Experience working with a team
Experience with earned, shared and paid Digital Marketing
Familiarity with Google Ads, Meta/Facebook Ads & associated tools
Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in social media, content creation, graphic design, web design, production, etc.
Familiarity with social media management and social listening tools (Hootsuite or similar)
Photo and video content creation experience and professional equipment a plus
Experience with MS Office, Google Drive and Google Calendar, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar
