September 8, 2020 — SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego Mountain Biking Association (SDMBA) and Monuments of Cycling, creators of the world-famous Canyon Belgian Waffle Ride, are launching a new fundraising campaign to support local trail efforts in San Diego, with the grand prize winner receiving a $4,000 shopping spree for the Canyon bike of their dreams.

The “Make A Click - Take Your Pick” campaign supports SDMBA’s local trail projects and advocacy efforts to improve access for mountain biking in San Diego, with ten percent of each contribution going to Outdoor Outreach, a local nonprofit working to connect youth to the outdoors.

A $10 donation gets a contributor one entry, while each $20 donation receives three entries. That means a $1,000 donation would get 150 chances at the exciting grand prize of $4,000 towards any Canyon bike. Mountain, road, gravel, e-bike - Take Your Pick!   In addition, anyone who becomes a member of SDMBA or renews their membership between September 8 until November 6, will receive one entry.

Grand prize: a $4,000 shopping spree for the Canyon bike of your dreams.

Second Prize:  VIP Canyon/Belgian Waffle Ride Package including VIP dinner at future event, BWR 100% Sunglasses, Eliel BWR Kit and BWR IRC tires.

SDMBA aims to raise $25,000 through this 8-week fundraiser, which begins on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, and ends on Friday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m. PST.  A winner will be selected on Friday, November 6, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. PST. “SDMBA is honored to be the charity partner of the Canyon Belgian Waffle Ride and to have such amazing ongoing support from its founders, with Monuments of Cycling and Canyon continuing to ride side by side with us through challenging times,” said Susie Murphy,  Executive Director of SDMBA. “With so many events canceled in 2020, we are incredibly appreciative of their commitment to help us improve trail access for mountain biking in San Diego County and helping local youth explore those trails through Outdoor Outreach.”

“Canyon is a global brand, but we are well aware that building community begins at home,” said Blair Clark, Canyon US President. “That’s why we’ve partnered with the Belgian Waffle Ride, which began near our US headquarters showroom in Carlsbad, and that’s why we are passionate about working with SDMBA to expand trail access in San Diego county. Similarly, the donations to Outdoor Outreach whose mission is to use outdoor experiences to transform “inner-city troubled youth” to play, learn, serve and share are aligned with our purpose of inspiring riders to ride. I have personally seen the success of Outdoor Outreach for a decade and been amazed at their ability to change the trajectory of a child to overcome seemingly prohibitive disadvantages and eventually even graduate from a college such as Stanford University. BWR, SDMBA, and Outdoor Outreach are some of the best examples of building our community.”
